Virtual learning: the way of the future

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 1.2 billion children were affected by school closures around the world. As a result, there was a dramatic uptake in the use of digital learning tools and e-learning platforms.

As life returned to a ‘new normal’ and students returned to the classrooms, many families – and teachers – were left wondering how they could utilise the benefits of the online learning experience moving forward.

Research from the pandemic period indicates that online learning increases the retention of information, takes less time than traditional schooling, promotes real-world connections, allows for revision and acceleration of content, and allows for faster and more effective feedback between teachers and students.

The World Economic Forum states, “To get the full benefit of online learning, there needs to be a concerted effort to… go beyond replicating a physical class/lecture through video capabilities, instead, using a range of collaboration tools and engagement methods that promote “inclusion, personalisation and intelligence”.

Hillcrest’s Virtual Learning Community (VLC) goes beyond traditional distance education programs to deliver an innovative, personalised and flexible learning experience. Individual Learning Plans mean that each child’s learning is tailored just for them. And a strong focus on wellbeing means that your child is supported to make connections with peers and experience a sense of belonging.
